Best Juicer for Baby Food

Q: I'm looking for a juicer that my husband can use for juicing and I can use to make baby food. This will be our first juicer, and I'm trying to keep it under $200. Are there any that you can recommend?

A: Hi Brandy! There are quite a few juicers that have the functionality of making juice and baby food. You want to look for a single or twin gear that has a homogenizing function. Centrifugal juicers cannot make baby food. These are the juicers that use a spinning screen as the means of juicing and are usually what you see for sale in the department stores.

Finding a good juicer under $200 (and that can do both) can be tricky, in my opinion. If you want something that will last you a lifetime (or at least most of it!) it's worth it to put an extra $30-$50 towards a juicer that is a higher quality.

With that said, a very good model that can do both (and more) is the Green Star. However, this sounds a bit outside your budget (its $300- $500) but just wanted to let you know about it.

The Champion Juicer can make baby food, fruit leathers, banana ice cream, sorbets, etc that can be made by replacing the juicing screen with a "blank plate" to allow the food to pass through smoothly.

The Omega Single Gear Juicers can also do the same and are very good quality. The 8003 is cheaper but still good.

Both of these juicers will run you between $230 and $260 but are durable and will last you a long time. For example, I have the Champion Juicer and use it a lot. I have had it for over 11 years.


The one juicer that can do both but under $200 is the Lexen Juicer. Take a look at that one for sure!
