Travel Size Juicers

Q: Hi,
I just found your blog and it's so exciting! I became a daily juicer about 3 months ago. My question to you is do you know of any small, travel size juicers that could be powered by a solar panel? We travel and camp a lot and I really miss my daily juice when we are away. We just installed a solar panel on top of our VW van and I am hoping to find a juicer that can be powered by it :0)

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!

Well, I think you best bet would be to purchase a hand crank juicer. It takes quite a bit more work then the electric models, but this way you won't even have to use your solar power juice (haha- I always have to fit the word "juice" in where I can!).

These are what most people use when they travel because it requires no electricity and can juice apples and carrots. It's also small, lightweight, inexpensive and you can always leave it in your van. Because you are hand cranking the juice, it's slow juicing and enzymes are preserved in the process, much like a masticating juicer.

If you prefer a smaller electric juicer then I would suggest getting a cheaper centrifugal model because they typically are much lighter, easier to stow away in a container and tend to use less energy. The downside to them is that they don't juice as good of a juice then with a masticiating juicer, but they will do the job.
